"She"

How does one remove toxicity from their life ? When is it OK to  give up? What  should be the defining moment when you know enough is enough?

It was just her. Alone and happy that way. She had seen the hell people have spoken of. She had picked the pieces of her shattered heart off the floor. She had stared into the emptiness of her reflection . Yet through it all she managed to pick herself up. By her own will. By her own strength. And she would be damned if anyone had the audacity to claim her victory for her. She didn't need any man. She didn't need toxic friends. Starting over fresh was the second chance she was given.

Even though she had not had the best of luck with love, cupid still managed to butt into her life and chose her yet again to be victim of his cruel little love game. Little did she know the next couple of years would be nothing more than a punishment for all her wrong doings. It came in the most unexpected form. She would have no idea.....no idea.

Lies. Broken promises. Sketchy behaviors and more lies. It wasn't like he was a good liar either. His lies were like tiny Lego pieces that when eventually added all together made quite a difference in what it was that was being made. She bought most of it for quite some time. Then slowly she started put the pieces together. She was a fool for love. Again.

Her first love was a loser of course. An abusive asshole. The second was a man she put time and trust and much love into. He betrayed her,so she returned the favor. Of course he didn't take kindly to it,so he burned her at the stake, metaphorically speaking. Now they say third time's a charm. More like a cursed charm handed down by the devil himself, and cupid was his devilishly clever disguise.

Manipulation always played its part . It was such a war on what was expected and wanted. He'd make promises and break them and claim responsibility for them. He always made it out to look like he was forced to do things, even though it was his word he had given. It was simple. Don't say you're going to do something, and not do it. Especially if you're willing to make that into a promise! No matter how many times her mind told her to depart and move on, this isn't good for you, her heart kept intervening telling her she loved him and cared. That he would change for her. That his lies would end. That he would make sacrifices for her, like she had done so for him.

Silly girl. Well that silly girl is broken. Mentally. Physically tired and pained. She had wasted years of her life trying to pick herself up for the second time. She should have never fell to begin with. He knew where she came from. The hurt she lived through. The things that made her happy that she sacrificed for things she thought would make her happier. He betrayed her is what he did. How could she ever forgive him? There were more rough times than good, and the good times just weren't good enough to forgive him this time. She just wanted to give up.

She had said all that needed to be said. She cried all the tears she could cry. Her care had run out and her love had run dry. The passion and trust were destroyed. She was left to pick herself up from this mess. Somehow she would have to find the strength within her to get up one more time, but could she? Where would she go?  Would anyone help her? Could anyone help her? Could she leave it all behind?
